It appears they decided to remove PHP4 from the Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) repositories.  Oh well, that’s why we have source code. This tutorial well help you get set up and running using a source distribution of PHP4, and apt-get for everything else. (more…)

Lets say you’re a programmer who enjoys the GNU environment, and you’ve become pretty good friends with gcc and g++. However, for one reason or another, you need to write a program in C++ on your Windows box. You find yourself uninterested in using Microsoft’s compiler, and you wish you could just have gcc and g++ back. The good news is you can have them both, and more, with MinGW and MSYS! This tutorial will guide you through installing these tools.

It has been ages since I last updated my blog. Perhaps I should rename it to “Overdue Update,” since those are mostly what I post. My recent inactivity is made doubly obvious by the fact that the index page of my website is still nothing but boring, basic HTML. How long ago did I say there was going to be an exciting new appearance? Too long ago. It almost makes you wonder if I still take my Internet presence seriously. The answer is yes, but I’ll go into that later. First, I’ll give you a little update on what I’ve been up to recently.

I would just like to take a moment to note that the semester is finally over, and that I am overwhelmed with joy. It was a nasty semester, with a landscape crafted primarily of valleys. Today I slept in to 3:00pm, and have to say that it was quite possibly the most wonderful sleep I have had since the semester started. It was even accompanied by a weird dream. Things don’t get much better than that. I now face the daunting task of figuring out how to spend this wonderful day of freedom. Should I read a book? Should I work on a new program? Should I be as lazy as possible an accomplish as little as I possibly can? Now that sounds like an idea! Happy winter break my fellow college students. Good riddance to that crappy semester!

I can honestly say that one of the defining moments of my childhood occurred when I was three. My mom seems to think I was four when this particular defining moment occurred, but I’ve been telling this story for a long time, and I was three damn it!
